My Skis, Volkl 5 stars

By: Alli Green An object that defines me and symbolizes my interests are my racing skis. They are black with 5 pink stars on them. I believe that they define me because they show the success of how far I have come in my skiing. These skis are very good racing skis, the retail price for them would be as much as $800. Someone might get the impression that this is something that I could afford, but actually I got these skis second hand from a ski shop and then they were handed down to me from my mom.

If I were given them 5 years ago, they would have been way too much for me to handle. This is because the more advanced the ski, the longer and stiffer they are made. This allows the skier to ski in tighter turns and with much more speed. Before I started racing I was a totally different type of skier. Racing has changed my form and my style of skiing. And these skis have helped me succeed as a racer.

If someone were to find my skis years from now they would lead to some clues about my life and my skiing style. It would be obvious that I raced because they are GS racing skis. Also on the bottoms of my skis there are scratches and some chunks taken out of them. The scratches are from rocks and things that I have run over when skiing glades and trails in the woods. This shows that I ski in variety. Not only do I race but I like to go off jumps, ski moguls, and ski for pleasure. Also, on my right ski, there is a piece missing. This is from when I got run into last year and the crash resulted in a sprained MCL. One could tell from the damage done to the ski that there was a large amount of impact. This would lead to the conclusion that this crash resulted in a serious injury.

If someone looked at my skis, it is pretty obvious that they were used often over the course of the winter. My skiing style can be interpreted from the appearance of my skis. I believe that my skis show my dedication and my passion for skiing.  I do not care how much snow is on the mountain, if there is snow I want to be skiing. All of the defects on my skis show this commitment to my sport. My Volkl’s are evidence of my personality and the great times that I have had on ski vacations and in my racing career.
